Anil Majmudar

Anil Majmudar was born in 1976 in Ahmedabad. In 1999, he received his Diploma in Painting from C.N.College of Fine Arts, Ahmedabad. In 2001 he received his Post Diploma in Print Making from M.S.University, Baroda. 

His work reflects glimpses of the past and the way we lead our lives. From simple occurrences to historical episodes. He uses multiple methods of printmaking to mixed media. He tries to capture moments of glory, sadness and reflection all meeting as a juncture in his art. 

Anil has taken part in several group shows across the country like Mumbai, Delhi, Baroda, Ahmedabad, Kochi, and Kolkata and Goa. His work was also exhibited in Amsterdam. 

In 2000 and 2003, the artist won awards at the 40th and 43rd State Level Art Exhibitions from Gujarat State Lalit Kala Akademi, Ahmedabad. In 2001, he won an award in the 15th All India Art Exhibition at the South Central Zone Cultural Center, Nagpur. In 2014, he won an award in the IIIrd Distinction at Intercontinental Biennial of Small Graphic, Romania. 

Anil lives and works in Ahmedabad. 

His piece being displayed with us is titled The Power of The Powerless made in 2021. ‘Ahimsa’ as a tool, Gandhi used to fight not only for colonial rule but social evils as well. Anil has used shredded non-usable currency as a material and the portrait of Gandhi to represent the father of non-violence and the impact of his message worldwide.
