Awdhesh Tamrakar

Born and brought up in Shahgarh, Madhya Pradesh, India, Awdhesh Tamrakar completed is M.V.A. (2015) and B.V.A. (2013) from the Department of Sculpture, Faculty of Fine Arts, M. S. University, Baroda.

He was the recipient of the Gold Medal from the Department of Sculpture (2015) and Chinmoy Pramanik Memorial Award (2015). Some of his recent group shows and projects include, Thinking matters, curated by Mario Dsouza, Space Studio Baroda,2020; Heads in the cloud, Five Million Incidents, conceived in collaboration with Raqs Media Collective and organized by Goethe Institut/ Max Mueller Bhawan New Delhi and Kolkata, 2020; Art and Science Dialogue, Collaboration project with TIFR Hyderabad, 2018; Madhyama curated by Akhilesh, Raza Foundation, Delhi,2018; ID-ENTITY Curated by Zero Gravity Collective, New Delhi, 2018; Displaced Places, Utsha Foundation, Bhubaneswar, Oddisa 2017.

Tamrakar’s practice largely revolves around memory associations and history of a place, that draws or opens up itself through mark making and stories of yesterdays. His practice and mediums range across sculpture, drawings, Photographs, Videos installation and digital manipulations through Virtual and Augmented Reality.

Tamrakar has been teaching as a Guest Faculty in the Department of Fine Arts, S.N.School of Arts and Communication, Central University, Hyderabad since 2018.

Awdhesh lives and works between Hyderabad and Baroda.

His exhibit with us is titled Conditional Image VII,an Inkjet print on acid free paper and fiberglass made in 2018.
