Jalaja was born in 1983 in Keezhillamin Perumbavoor, Kerala and completed her BFA (Painting) from Govt. RLV College Thripunithura, Kochi (2007) and MFA (Painting) from Govt. RLV College Thripunithura, Kochi (2009).  

Jalaja's works are socially and politically concerned, sensitive responses marked on time from local school of thoughts. Jalaja continuously explores local and global economics, political, racial and religious issues bringing it on her creative spaces, without solutions but relevant responsibility. Jalaja is one of the 35 'Emerging Asian Artists’, the book was published by Gauwngju Biennale Foundation. 

Her solo exhibitions include Dissonant Image, three solos in Gallery Exhibit 320, New Delhi (2016) and Face It; HerStory. Curatorial Consultant Bose Krishnamachari at Kashi Art Gallery, Kochi 2016, 2014). 

Her selected exhibitions are Mattancherry, A group Show, curated by Riyas Komu at Uru Art Harbour, Mattancherry, Kochi (2017); Feedback Loop, curated by Kanchi Metha at Tarq, Mumbai (2016) and Walking on the Planet, curated by Pietro Gagliano, Casa Masaccio, San Giovanni Valdarno (Arezzo), Italy (2015). Jalaja has participated in Biennale Arte Dolomiti, Cibiana di Cadore, Italy (2016; Kochi Muziris Biennale (2012); Prauge Biennale, Indian Pavillion, Czech Republic (2011) and Art Gwangju 2010, Gallery BMB, South Korea (2010). The artist lives and works in Kochi, Kerala. 

Her exhibit with us is titled Learning Mind Experience (Unknown) Series III & IV (73.5X122 cms). It is a  watercolor on paper art made in 2021.
