Jitu Oghani

Born in the village of Thangadh in Gujarat in 1966, Jitu Oghani began his artistic career at the Sheth C N College of Fine Arts.

Jitu is an award-winning Indian artist whose paintings have been widely exhibited nationally, as well as in Taiwan and Egypt. His works are inspired by the lives of ordinary people he crosses paths with in his daily life, as well as old and new stories. In addition to his vibrant figurative compositions, Oghani creates geometric abstractions. He paints using watercolors, acrylics, and collage on canvas or paper. Fond of experimenting, Oghani moves fluidly between watercolours, acrylic paints and collages on canvas and paper.

Oghani’s innovative works have been a part of exhibitions, nationally and internationally, and have won him awards from the Gujarat Lalit Kala Akademi in 2002, 2005, and 2006. Based in Gujarat, Oghani continues to create works that balance traditional and modern artistic ideologies.

His exhibit is titled Unwind Memory using a cotton thread, fabric glue and other materials on canvas made in 2021.
