Rekha Hebbar Rao

Rekha Hebbar Rao (born in 1947) studied painting under her eminent artist father K K Hebbar. She holds a Post Graduate degree in History, Bombay University. She held her first solo show at Jehangir Art Gallery Mumbai in 1969 and this was followed by several solo shows in private galleries, group shows and art camps in India and abroad.

Her collections have been displayed at the National Gallery of Modern Art (NGMA), Mumbai, Lalit Kala Akademi, New Delhi, Singapore National Museum, Fukuoka Gallery Japan and Venkatappa Gallery Bengaluru; with collectors including WIPRO, MSIL, Reliance Harmony, Mogae Pvt Ltd, State Bank of India (SBI), Rettbergs Germany, Zoya Shetty (Canada) and many more. She was invited to participate in the IV Triennial India, The Asian Biennale Dhaka and charity auctions conducted by Sotheby’s, Asprey’s and Christies (by invitation) in the past 3 decades. She has also been invited to judge National Exhibitions organized by Lalit Kala Akademi, New Delhi and participated in several National and International Art Camps.

She won the Suvarna Karnataka Rajyotsava Award in 2006.The Maharashtra State Award, The Lalit Kala Akademi, Lucknow, and Critics Award Bombay are some of her accolades.

She lives and works in Bengaluru.

Her exhibit with us is titled – Times we live in – a 4 panel work, Acrylic and Oil on canvas made in 2021.
