Sadashiv Mashe (Warli)

Born in 1958, Sadashiv Mashe is the son of the renowned Warli artist Jivya Soma Mashe. His pictorial style is rooted in the tradition of Warli, with rhythmic, simplified forms representing the complexities of the world around him.

His father was not educated so he had to be with him for art shows. From 1978, he travelled to Delhi, Chandigarh, Odisha, Bhopal, Nagaland, Goa, etc. and gave demonstrations. He learnt painting from his father’s artwork. He has exhibited his works across countries including Singapore, Italy, Germany, Greece, Brazil, Japan and America. He continues the tradition of Warli painting along with his brother, Balu Mashe.

Currently he stays in Ganjad Dahanu.

Sadashiv’s exhibits with us are titled Story of Jivya Soma Mashe, made in 2020, Double Net made in 2019, Tarpa Dance made in 2021 and People going in forest made in 2021. All these are made on a cow dung base and poster colors on canvas.
