Vyom Mehta
Born in Ahmedabad in 1985, Vyom completed his Bachelors in Visual Arts in Sculpture from The Faculty of Fine Arts, M.S. University of Baroda, Vadodara in 2006.
Vyom is a sculptor with his studio practice in Ahmedabad. He is currently working on a series of works which are kinetic in nature. The series explores post-human possibilities emerging from an ecological position. The individual’s physical presence, their footprint and their effect on all that exists around.
Vyom has participated in many group shows including: ‘Art Fusion 2010’ at Nehru Centre, Mumbai in 2010, ‘AM Art Show’- celebrating 600 yrs of Ahmedabad at Amdavad Ni Gufa, Ahmedabad in 2010. He has also been an Assistant Director for a feature film on the life of Raja Ravi Varma in 2008. His most recent body of work looks at positioning the 'primitive' as a lens for constructing post-human, post-data, and post-anthropogenic narratives.
The artist lives and works in Ahmedabad, Gujarat.
